Editorial policy

Last updated: 12 October 2026

FancyTextGenie is a small, independent site run by Ale. This policy explains how we create, review and update our tools and guides, so you know what to expect from them.

Who creates the content

Ale builds the tools and edits and reviews every page. There is no separate editorial team, and we do not publish guest posts or paid articles.

How we use AI

Some of our text, such as parts of the guides and tool descriptions, is drafted with AI writing tools. Ale reviews, edits and fact-checks every page before it is published. The tools themselves are not AI: they are ordinary code that follows fixed, documented rules, and their output is checked by automated tests (see testing). Facts about Unicode, character names and code points come from the official Unicode references listed on our sources page, not from AI.

Our standards

  • Accuracy first. Every character name and code point we show is taken from the Unicode Character Database. Claims about apps and games are kept general when they can change, and dated when they are specific.
  • No invented facts. We do not publish made-up statistics, reviews, testimonials or user numbers.
  • Honest limits. Every tool page says what the tool cannot do and when you should not use it.
  • Plain language. We explain things simply and avoid jargon where we can.
  • Independence. No company pays us to mention or rank its products. Links to other sites are there because they help you.

Review and updates

Every tool shows when it was last reviewed, its version number and a changelog. We aim to review each tool at least every 6 months, and sooner when a platform changes its rules or a reader reports a problem. Guides show the date they were published and, when changed, the date they were updated.

Corrections

If you find a mistake, use the Report an error button on any tool or our contact page. We check every report. When a fix is confirmed, we correct the page and record the change on our public corrections page.

How the site is funded

All our tools are free. The site is paid for by its owner. In the future we may show advertising from Google AdSense to cover running costs; if we do, ads will be clearly separate from the tools and our privacy policy will explain how they work. Advertising never decides what we write or which tools we build.
